about
Lovely Time of Year was written in my room in Ulsterville Avenue, Belfast, when I was living with a couple of the lads from my old band The Delawares. It was one of those songs that takes hold of you and ends up finished in 20mins! It wrote itself really!!
The song ties into people’s Christmas experiences. Lights twinkling on the tree, shopping for presents in a crowded town, making resolutions and preparing for the New Year!
I’m really just trying to get people to relax and realise that for all the effort involved, it’s a nice time of year and you should try to relax and enjoy it while the goings good!
Make memories. Have fun. Be happy. Ho Ho Ho
lyrics
=Verse 1=
Outside the air is getting clear.
Feel the frost before the snow
You're hanging up your mistletoe
And the light's they twinkle on the tree you bought that day
It starts to snow
Making all the street lights glow.
=Chorus=
Sitting in my seat putting up the old feet
watching this scene unfold, another story to be told
Even if you're Scrooge related I don't think that you could hate this
Lovely time of year
It's a lovely time of year
=verse 2=
Wrap up warm and head down town
Watching all the people frown
Their shopping bags all hanging down
But they know its worth it when the see the joy it brings
To one and all
merry Christmas I can hear them call
=Chorus=
Sitting in my seat putting up the old feet
watching this scene unfold, another story to be told
Even if you're Scrooge related I don't think that you could hate this
Lovely time of year
It's a lovely time of year
=Verse 3=
Another year has been and gone
make your resolutions strong
'cause you know that it wont be long
before the new years over and another one takes its place
Best time of year
the season makes it al so clear
=Chrous=
Sitting in my seat putting up the old feet
watching this scene unfold, another story to be told
Even if you're Scrooge related I don't think that you could hate this
Lovely time of year
It's a lovely time of year
